B-E-A-UTIFUL RIFLE!!!! Personally i think it should be chambered a little higher then the weak 5.56. 7.62x39mm or a 7.62×51mm seems more suitable.

I agree but the recoil would probably be greatly increased.

Well yes, but not by extreme un-shootable amounts, We used the SLR from 1954ish to the 1990s and that took the 7.62x51 NATO.
Recoil maybe increased more but will have more stopping power and require less rounds to take down the target.

Location of the shot would be most important out of that list. The point is, a lot of people would quickly lose interest in fighting once they've been shot. Obviously there are exceptions, but your average joe isn't going to feel very happy after taking a round.
