I took a shot of a plane with a contrail once, we were flying into Rome from Miami.
I guess here in the U.S, ATC is a lot more careful, because it was frightning how many and how close airplanes came to us! Not a mile away in some cases, sometimes maybe less than a kilometer, it was both really neat to see planes that close, and kinda scary!
